This usually takes 15 to 30 seconds. Google is loading your site from scratch.

"Copy for my web person" gives you a plain summary you can paste into an email or text.
What this checks
We ask Google's own testing tool, PageSpeed Insights, to load your page the way a mid-range phone on a so-so signal would. It's the same test web developers use, minus the jargon.
- Speed: how long until something shows up, how long until the main content is there, and whether the page jumps around while it loads.
- Google basics: things like a page title, a description, and whether Google is allowed to list the page at all.
- Accessibility: whether people with poor eyesight or a screen reader can use the page.
- Best practices: security and general housekeeping.
Why phone speed matters for a small business
Most people find local businesses on their phone, often in a hurry. If your page sits blank for a few seconds, a lot of them hit back and tap the next result. Google also uses page experience as one of many ranking signals, so a slow site can cost you both ways.
Questions
Why did my score change when I checked again?
Scores move a few points between runs because network and server conditions change from moment to moment. Look at the overall range (fast, okay, slow) and the list of fixes rather than a single number. Re-checking within 10 minutes shows the same saved result.
Do I need a perfect 100?
No. Anything in the green (90 and up) is great, and plenty of successful sites sit in the yellow. A red score on phones is the one worth fixing.
My site is on Wix, Squarespace or GoDaddy. Can I fix these myself?
Some of them. Fixes marked "You can do this" usually can be: smaller photos, fewer widgets, a better page title. Fixes marked "Ask your web person" usually need access to the site's code or hosting, and some page builders don't allow them at all.
Does this tell me my Google ranking?
No. It checks the technical basics that help or hurt your chances. Where you show up also depends on your Google Business Profile, reviews, and what's on your pages.
What do you do with the address I enter?
We send it to Google's PageSpeed Insights to run the test and show you the result. We don't save it.
